During President Ahmadinejad's UN address in New York, US delegates began to protest. The president’s speech was about how the US government was responsible for 9/11 and all the attacks. His statement was "abhorrent and delusional” according to the US. During this speech, President Ahmadinejad discussed political criticism and terrorism. He also discussed how nuclear disarmament should take place in 2001. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad also expressed his view in which he believed that the world order and capitalism were unbeneficial. He declared that people such as prophets should be the ones to lead the world. The president also stated that the US government was the only one that had blamed Al-Qaeda for the attacks. The president said "The majority of the American people as well as most nations and politicians around the world agree with this view". Mark Kornblau, spokesman for the US mission at the UN responded by saying “Rather than representing the aspirations and goodwill of the Iranian people, Mr Ahmadinejad has yet again chosen to spout vile conspiracy theories and anti-Semitic slurs that are as abhorrent and delusional as they are predictable”. Nuclear disarmament was also discussed in a meeting in which foreign ministers from US, UK, China, France, Germany and Russia took part.
